Saturday night and we are quietly relaxing when there is an almighty crack and a ball of lightning and all the lights and power went out! It was the biggest bolt of lightning we have ever experienced.
Ethiopian training swung into action and we reached for our head torches.
Then the rain started and it poured and poured!
Anyway we went to bed with the rain tipping down only to wake up in the morning to find that the ground floor had been completely flooded with shoes and other items floating about. Fortunately we are living on the first floor.
So Sunday morning was spent mopping up and moving all the furniture out and then when it had dried moving it all back in again before the rains started again.
Judith Ellis the college principal arrived with other college staff to help sort things out, but was really disappointed as many of the carpets are new and may have to be thrown away.
Anyway it was a good team building exercise!!!!!
In the middle of all the mopping up someone rang to say that the sky had cleared and we could now see the Himalayas!! A silver lining?

Sounds like you have had your 'baptism' - of water, if not fire! Anyway, glad you are settling in and making new friends. We thought of you at Portman Rd on Saturday, having surprised Margaret, Caroll & Sue by appearing in our old seats. Not much to shout about in terms of the performance on the pitch though.
We have fixed up our DVD recorderagain, so if you would like an TV programmes recorded and sent out please let us know.
Love from Mike and Sue
At least you weren't under canvas! We have just returned from Leading Edge where it rained every day (all day on two occaisions!). Felt more like Glastonbury in the mud than a Baptist holiday/retreat! Had a good time though (especially the kids who have slept like logs since!)
Philip Yancey was one of the main speakers. I really appreciated his contribution: someone prepared to ask the difficult questions without giving glib answers.
God bless
Jonathan and Sally
